We're determined...

...to bring a baby home in 2007. I am staying home from work tomorrow to get our Gladney paperwork in order and shipped, maybe couriered, to Texas. I talked to Sean about ending the blog here since this was such a let down for everyone. If I wasn't blogging, we could have kept this to ourselves and nobody would have been let down except for us. But now, I feel like our blog needs a happy ending. We can't just end it here - it would be like a foreign film with a really depressing ending. We need the American ending. We're determined to get it.

We are putting all the baby supplies, clothes, bassinet, etc. in the spare bedroom and will close the door until we come home from Texas with baby in arms. I am going to be petrified to meet another birthmother. I won't lie about that. We refuse to get on a plane to meet someone before we get a complete written profile from Gladney that explains in detail the outcome of all the counseling the birthmother has received. That might not be completely possible but we will try our best to make sure it happens.
More to come...

I just wanted to say that I am a birthmother, and I have been reading your blog for about a month now, I hope you don't mind but it has been interesting to see the story from this side.
Anyway, just wanted you to know from my point of view that I got no counseling before placing from anyone, and I still choice placement.
Also I in a way can feel your pain and it will be worth it in the end, when I choice the first AP's they ended up "backing out" after she was born because she had a heart murmur and both had a parent pass away from heart problems, so I felt anger and resintment and had to start all over after I thought I found her parents, in the end I picked an amazing couple I know I am ten times happier with, and feel more at ease with it in my heart.
My case worker told me everything happens for a reason even if you do not see it now.

You two seem like wonderful people, and I have no doubt you will find your child before 2007 is over.

Des,
Words can not express how sorry I am for you and Sean. This blog will have a happy ending. Somewhere there is a baby, your baby, that is waiting for you to be his parents. Don't give up. Your baby just hasn't found you yet.

Hey guys;
good luck and we are thinking about you. I just heard about your blog from my bro Andy, and heard about what happened. We have a friend who adopted and went through a similar thing and she cried for days but she has 2 great kids now. Just another chapter in her life.
